When I first came to Italy I was completely smitten by absolutely everything in this country. The Duomo, La Scala, Il Cenacolo, the people and the history. Even paying 5 dollars for an apple at a beautiful open air market had it’s positive points. Not that I don’t like paying 5 dollars for an apple now, I mean who the heck doesn’t…although I guess the novelty of it has sort of worn off. Even so, I still love Italy.
First and foremost I live in Milan, which is an amazing city to live. Dinners, parties, art – fashion, food, drink and design. Michaelangelo and never ending happy hours. This is ‘Milano da bere’ as described by the Italians. Loads of fun. Care free, hung over, fly by the seat of your pants fun. Until of course, you have children. Then things start to change and this is where things get really fun.
Now there are definitely some serious differences between Italians and Americans. So without any mud slinging I decided to share some of my every day moments living in this beautiful Berlusconi run country. Mostly, because no matter how much I complain I truly adore living in Italy, but also because some of these moments are truly funny! Enjoy.
