What it’s like to move from one house to another in Italy. Part 1. The day before.

When the going gets tough..call Salvatore.

Finally, the day I have been waiting for this whole past year has finally arrived. Tomorrow we will start to move. I say start to move because the entire process will take 3 days.

No, I have not decided to move back to America. I am moving 4 blocks away from my current apartment. But when I mentioned that 3 days seemed like a lot,  Salvatore from my moving company told me ‘Signora, qui le cose funzionono cosi..’ which means ‘I do my job, you do yours.’ okay, well not really.  It means ‘listen lady, that’s how things work here..’

So with that in mind I decided I was just going to go with the flow. Tomorrow I have to wake up at 6 take my daughter and son to school by 8. (2 different schools) then I will just stroll back to my place where everything will be totally under control with good ol’ Salva’ and his guys taking apart all of my furniture and wrapping it up to then send it out from my bedroom window, 5 stories high with an elevator that will be set up on the side-walk. No problem. I am confident that it will all go smoothly. See you tomorrow!
