Thursday the 27th of September – Tuesday 2nd of October
Before leaving my house my husband calls to remind me to bring a coat, Paris is cold and rainy. The sun is blazing down on our apartment and it’s about 35°c in our house when he tells me this. I take out 2 light coats and decide to leave them both because the thought of having another thing to lug around is too much to handle. Of course when I land in Paris it is pouring down with rain and about 10°c..fortunately I only have about 2 meters to walk from airport to taxi and taxi to door. The door of close friend and up and coming shoe designer Inga Savits, creator of Inga shoes – in the very chic neighborhood of Saint Germain. I am greeted with a warm smile and a warm coat. I am happy to be here and even happier to start working. We work all day and then head to the opening of Alexis Mabilles Store in rue Grenelle number 11. The place is a madhouse with journalists swarming everywhere taking pictures of all the French famous people. I am served champagne and introduced to about 20 different people in less than an hour, I smile big smiles and make small talk. After a while I get bored of doing this and find a spot next to WWD photographer Franck Mura where I can finally be my cheeky self for a bit.
The next morning as we walk to work through the Jardin des Tuileries I wonder why I don’t come more often to this incredible city as it is so close.(an hour and 20 minutes on Easy Jet) I snap as many pictures as I can, before heading into our tent in Premiere Classe. My husband flies in for 2 days to give me a bit of moral support and we meet up with a couple of friends of ours for dinner at La Société part of the Hotel Costes group.
The next 5 days go something like this, 6.30 am wake up – work, dinner out, occasional drinks out after dinner. (Inga even manages to find the energy to do work drinks before dinner out) I do not have time to write, I hardly have time to take a shower. The last night I am there we go to have a drink at Hotel Le Meurice, we are in high spirits – the selling went well. We sip on martini’s and laugh until 2am in the morning. Kayne West is sitting behind us. There is an American reality star in front of us..just your typical night out during Paris Fashion Week.
